What happened to the Rams last night?

Los Angeles had the perfect opportunity to win after James Cook fumbled in overtime. All they needed was a field goal, but once again, their special teams let them down. The kick was blocked, and Buffalo left SoFi with a 37-34 win.

And can we talk about the defenses? Both seemed to check out of this game. Yes, we had two great quarterbacks on the field, but Matthew Stafford marched downfield for the game-tying touchdown without needing to use a timeout.

Meanwhile, Josh Allen spent the night running through the Rams’ defense like a linebacker. LA simply couldn’t contain him.

The Rams are now 2-3, and for a team that entered the season with Super Bowl expectations, they’re making some awfully familiar mistakes.

We had a better night than the Rams, though. Let’s see how our picks did.

Overtime gave us a scare but we finish 2-1.

Our model liked both Josh Allen unders heading into Monday night. He’d been averaging fewer than 20 completions and 30 passing attempts per game, so we liked our chances with both lines.

And things were going pretty much to plan. Allen had just 10 completions on 17 attempts through four quarters. Then Stafford drove the Rams downfield to tie the game at 34-34, and suddenly we were heading to overtime.

The last thing you want when you’ve backed an under is another quarter of football, especially when both defenses have spent the night getting bullied.

Thankfully, Allen wasn’t interested in throwing the ball much. He finished with just 12 completions on 19 attempts, while rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown. Both unders hit with plenty of room to spare.

Stafford, on the other hand, ruined our perfect night. We had him under 23.5 completions, but he went well past that number as the Rams kept throwing the ball.

So we finish 2-1. Two comfortable wins on Allen, one miss on Stafford. We’ll take that to close out Week 5.

Housekeeping

We’re making a few changes to Props Daily over the coming weeks.

We’re working on a new design to make the newsletter easier to read, with better ways to follow our picks, see how they performed, and explore the numbers behind them.

We’re also working on bringing more of our data directly into Props Daily, so you’ll get a clearer picture of what our models are seeing without having to leave your inbox.

The football talk, game recaps, and our usual commentary aren’t going anywhere though. We’re just trying to make the whole thing a little better.

We’ll share more as the changes roll out.

Looking Ahead to Thursday

The Seahawks head to Denver on Thursday night, with both teams coming off very different results.

Seattle lost a wild 32-29 game to the 49ers, while the Broncos picked up a road win against the hapless Chargers.

We’ll be spending the next couple of days looking at the player props, checking injury updates, and watching how the lines move.

In the meantime, you can see which props are gaining attention on Trending Props and where the lines are shifting on the Boosts page.

Join the conversation on Discord to share slips, compare reads, and talk through the upcoming slate with the Propsguru community.

We’ll be back tomorrow.
