The Clippers are done for the year following a season ending loss to the Warriors. We’re getting to that time of year where every possession genuinely matters. It’s basketball at its best. It can also be heartbreaking for fans forced to watch their favorite teams pack it in.

Tristan da Silva, on the other hand, never came close. We mentioned in yesterday’s newsletter that to clear 8 points he would need to shoot efficiently, and with enough volume. He managed the first, with 100% shooting for the night. He fell short of the second, taking only two shots for a total of 4 points.

And is it possible that Gui Santos reads this newsletter? Because every time we take a well-reasoned under on him, the man seems to show out. Last night, he just barely beat our under with 6 rebounds.

There’s one more day of regular season play before things fully heat up. For now, we have one more round of Play-In Tournament basketball. In the Eastern Conference, it’s the Hornets versus the Nets.

In the Western Conference, the Warriors will take on the Suns.

Both conferences are playing for last seed positioning going into the playoffs. Naturally, this means that whoever wins the Play-In Tournament will have their real work cut out for them afterward, when they face off against their first place opponents.

As for the playoffs themselves—well. We’re still at that stage where anything could happen.

The Pistons head into the post season as top seeds of the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Thunder’s bid for back to back championships is starting off strong. They’re in the top spot for the Western Conference.
