Happy Wednesday, folks. We’re heading now into Week Two. Storylines are already heating up. The first set of games produced high-scoring matchups full of drama and, unfortunately, a few potentially significant injuries. Such is life in the NFL.

There are no games until tomorrow, so in today's newsletter, we'll take a look at some news and Week One injury reports, as well as some other topics of interest.

Week One Injury Updates

Myles Garrett of the Los Angeles Rams is set to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery. This will cause him to miss at least four games, with potentially more on the horizon depending on how his recovery goes.

Landon Dickerson of the Philadelphia Eagles is also headed to the injured reserve list, with no expected timeline for return.

Meanwhile, Mansoor Delane, the No. 6 overall draft pick, experienced a shoulder injury in his first professional game. The moment followed his first professional interception. Current prognosis is good, with a return expected to be imminent.

Quarterback Shakeups

The quarterbacks of the world have been taking some hits lately. Sam Darnold of the Seattle Seahawks is dealing with a soft tissue problem that developed during his very first game. Fortunately, this concern is not expected to cause long-term issues, but it could mean that Drew Lock is going to be in the driver's seat for the next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, Kyler Murray suffered a concussion during his professional debut for the Vikings, and the Atlanta Falcons quarterback situation is entirely up in the air. Injuries have forced them to their third-stringer, with Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix Jr. listed as questionable.

Thursday Night Football Preview

This Thursday, the Detroit Lions will face off against the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are currently favored by 4.5 points and given an approximate 70% chance of winning at home.

There are a few things to note about this game. First of all, it represents a historic debut, with the first regular-season prime-time game played at the new $2.2 billion Highmark Stadium. You can expect Bills Mafia to bring the enthusiasm.

This game also carries an unusually high projected point total, which obviously doesn't really mean all that much, but at least establishes the groundwork for some exciting fireworks.

There's also some tactical significance here. The Detroit Lions are likely going to be trying to establish running back Jahmyr Gibbs. There is also a potentially interesting contrast of styles between the two opposing quarterbacks, Josh Allen and Jared Goff.

Allen is coming off a recent four-touchdown performance, two of which came from passing and two more from rushing. Jared Goff, on the other hand, is known for his steady efficiency and truly balanced play.

Who will come out on top? We'll just have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
