Happy Friday, folks. With the weekend fast upon us, it's finally time to sit back, relax, and spend a little time with the sports that we love. For today, that will mean dipping into some NFL news.
As a reminder, though, for tomorrow, we'll be taking a look at some MLS props. If you are interested in soccer betting, this is a great opportunity to find some potentially worthwhile edges. For today, though, we're entirely fixated on the American idea of football. Let's get into it.
Injury Reports
If you've been following this newsletter regularly, you know that the NFL preseason has already generated a startling number of injury reports.
The list of players who will miss some, or in certain cases all, of the 2026 season continues to grow even before regular season play has officially started. Alvin Kamara of the Saints adds his name to that list.
He's expected to be out for at least one month, having sprained his MCL during practice. Tyler Biadasz of the Chargers, meanwhile, is indefinitely sidelined after experiencing a severe knee injury that included ACL damage.
Sam LaPorta of the Lions has been nursing a hip injury for a while now. The hope is that he will see Week One of regulation play, but his availability is still unknown.
Two NFL Teams Face the Music
The NFL has been doling out a little bit of punishment this week. The Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints are now experiencing the consequences of bad behavior during a joint practice session this past week.
If you don't know, the two teams met on the practice field, only to erupt into a massive multiplayer brawl that ended the practice early.
The league is punishing this behavior with half-million-dollar fines for each team. Yikes. That’s an expensive mistake.
Other League News
Joe Burrow of the Bengals is tired of not making it to the postseason. For three years running, Cincinnati hasn't seen the playoffs, but Joe Burrow expressed both frustration with the past and confidence in the future, reigniting Cincinnati fans' hopes for a Super Bowl appearance. Unrealistic? Not necessarily.
Crazier things certainly have happened.
There's also been a transition of ownership in Seattle. The Seahawks are likely to be purchased by Vinod Khosla, a billionaire. This following the NFL committee's formal recommendation to approve the sale.
