The Bears were too much for the Patriots last night, as Ben Johnson and his team came away with another win in Chicago.

Drake Maye had his moments, including a rushing touchdown, but AJ Brown had a night to forget with some costly drops.

Caleb Williams threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns, while Luther Burden gave New England’s defense all sorts of problems. He had 130 receiving yards on just four catches by halftime. His line was 56.5 yards, so that over was never really in doubt.

Over in the NBA, how on earth did Cleveland lose that game?

The Cavaliers were up by 29 against Philadelphia and somehow lost 114–106. Donovan Mitchell had 22 points at halftime, but the Sixers fought their way back, with Tyrese Maxey finishing with 32 points.

Meanwhile, OKC beat Denver 96–84. Just 84 points for a team with Nikola Jokić running the offense. Rough.

We’ve got 12 NBA games tonight, including Knicks–Celtics and Clippers–Lakers, and another big weekend of football ahead.

We have some picks for today, but first let’s see yesterday’s.

We had Maye over 30.5 passing attempts, and he finished with exactly 31. Just enough to get us the win.

His completions were a different story. We had him under 20.5, but he completed 24 of his 31 passes, finishing with a 77.4% completion rate.

Maye actually had a pretty good game despite the loss, throwing for 321 yards and two touchdowns. He was finding his receivers regularly, even with some of the drops we saw from AJ Brown, although that turnover in the end zone was costly.

We got the passing attempts right, but Maye was more accurate than we expected.

A 1–1 finish for the night. We’ll take the win on attempts and look to do better with today’s picks.

These are single-prop angles where our model shows higher probability than the odds reflect.

We’ve got three NBA picks for tonight, and we’re going with the under on all three.

First, we have Sion James under 7.5 points against Atlanta.

James had a rough start to the season, scoring just three points in 27 minutes against Brooklyn. He made only one of his seven shots, and with Charlotte having other players to handle the scoring, we’re not expecting a big night from him.

Then we have Kevin Durant under 23.5 points against the Spurs.

KD looked great against Dallas on Wednesday, dropping 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting. But San Antonio is a different matchup, especially with Wembanyama protecting the rim. We’re expecting a tougher night for Durant.

And finally, LaMelo Ball under 19.5 points against Orlando.

LaMelo scored 21 against Miami, but Anthony Edwards stole the show with 45. That’s a lot of shots going Edwards’ way, and with both players sharing the backcourt, we’re expecting LaMelo to have a smaller role in the scoring tonight.

Three unders tonight. Let’s see how they go.

And we haven’t forgotten about the NFL. We’re keeping an eye on the lines ahead of Sunday’s games.
