It's Tuesday, folks. We are now just eight days from regular-season play. Even still, the NFL preseason is continuing to kick up news stories.
Today, we're going to take a look at some fairly unusual roster news and examine what several last-minute updates will mean for the league as a whole. Let's get into it, shall we?

A New Way of Thinking About Quarterbacks
There's been an unusually high concentration of quarterbacks in the NFL during this preseason. We're specifically looking at moves made by Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. All three teams have logged four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster. The Minnesota Vikings were in the same position before waiving one for a total of three.
For those who don't know, this is almost unheard of in modern football because teams are allowed only a 53-player roster. They generally prioritize filling it out with, well, pretty much everyone except a dense concentration of quarterbacks. After all, they're only on the field one at a time, making it less important from a depth perspective to have multiples.
Why then have three teams packed their quarterback rosters so densely? Likely, it's a decision rendered with an ulterior motive. All three teams are trying to protect their young and talented quarterbacks from getting scooped up by someone else.
Still, this move could come at the cost of depth throughout the season. We'll have to wait and see how it plays out.
Cinderella Story in the Making
Jalon Daniels is on a path not entirely unknown in the NFL: that of the undrafted rookie defying odds.
Daniels has secured a role as the primary backup quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is not exactly common for undrafted players to rise so quickly into core positions, but Daniels is adding his name to a distinguished list.
He'll serve as the direct backup for Baker Mayfield this season.
